Ocarina Workshop ®
Aim of planned activity:
To make ocarinas easy-to-teach and fun-to-play
Brief description:
Ocarina Workshop® introduced ocarinas to schools in 1983. Building on these first 25 years, our pledge is to continue to:
◆ make music accessible to all
◆ offer best value for money
◆ maintain excellence of product and service
◆ train and enable class teachers
We will also:
◆ give free teaching resources to any school equipping 12 or more children for the first time
◆ give extra free resources to any school equipping 36 or more children for the first time
◆ develop new and innovative teaching materials for whole-class ocarina-playing
◆ offer specialist training to music services and LEAs who wish to develop ocarina-playing in their schools
◆ demonstrate best practice in whole-class instrumental tuition and musical performance
Who the activity is for:
Children and teachers in primary schools and onwards.
4-hole ocarinas are equally popular with boys and with girls. The four finger-holes require minimal coordination; just two fingers on each hand play an initial full octave plus semitones. Children of all abilities can find and play these notes easily.
Duration of activity:
Continuous
