The Roundhouse's impressive Main Space
The Roundhouse's impressive Main Space

The commitment of the Roundhouse to developing the creativity, and in particular, the musical creativity of large numbers of young people marked the Roundhouse as a natural partner for delivery of the Music Manifesto. With a state-of-the-art creative centre for young people at its heart - the Roundhouse Studios, which launched on 5th July 2006, the stage is now set for the Roundhouse to play a pivotal role as a test bed for the realisation of the Music Manifesto’s key aims.

The Roundhouse Studios comprise a number of practice rooms, an instrument store, live music recording, radio and tv production studios, digital media suites and rehearsal and performance spaces. Through its annual programme of courses and events, the Roundhouse Studios aim to provide a space to create for thousands of young people aged 13-25 each year.

The Roundhouse has a legendary music history, and the spirit of the venue’s music tradition will find new wings as a result of this substantial government award.

The Music Manifesto funding will enable the Roundhouse to act as a catalyst for the journey from learning through to the performing experience. As a creative and cultural hub for London it will aim to be both a real and a virtual centre to connect and inspire young people, schools, community music leaders and students.
