DCSF invites bids for music partnership projects

As the Music Manifesto Pathfinder programmes come to their conclusion, the government has renewed its commitment to music education by offering new funding opportunities for existing partnerships to deliver music activity.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families, working with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and Arts Council England, is inviting bids from Regularly Funded Arts organizations (RFOs), Local Authorities and others working collaboratively, for pump-priming funding to develop, or extend, strands of music activity for young people delivered through partnership working. Support would be for one year and is expected to fund the project activity only.
Bids will need to demonstrate they already have partnership arrangements in place, actively supported by established organisations with experience of delivering musical opportunities to young people. Partners should include at least one Local Authority and an RFO. Up to £1 million is available in total to support up to five projects in 2008-09. It is not expected to support bids for projects which are significantly concerned with singing, for which the Government has already announced funding support of £10 million in 2008-09.
