Choral singing has made it to prime time TV.

BBC1 has announced its latest Saturday night entertainment show, Choir Wars, which will give choirs from around the country the chance to be crowned the nation's favourite.

Hitting screens this summer, the competition is open to choirs of between 10 and 50 singers, aged 13 and over. All styles are welcome whether that's classical, gospel, barbershop, beatboxing, folk, rock or anything else, and the emphasis is on entertainment - 'passion, power and performance' says the Beeb.

If you're interested in auditioning, the deadline for applications is 6pm on Friday 4 April 2008. All choirs must include a video of themselves with the application form, so get moving to make sure you don't miss out.

Go to www.bbc.co.uk/choirwars for more info and to download an application form.
