If you haven't already seen it, check out this documentary made by Singing Ambassador Howard Goodall for Teacher's TV.

Howard travelled to three schools in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province to find out what part singing plays in children's lives at school. He discovers that singing is a vital part of school life and even where there are scant resources and few specialist teachers there is still a healthy musical culture in the classroom, with music helping students to learn languages and talk about social issues. There are also some interesting observations about boys' enthusiasm for singing and the importance (or otherwise) of tuning when it comes to young singers.

The programme can be seen on Teachers TV on 11 Dec (8am and 4.15pm) and 13 Dec (9am) but you can watch it online right now. Just click here!
