The search is on for Classic FM's Music Teacher of the Year. Now in its tenth year, the award honours those teachers who go the extra mile to energise the musical life of their school.

And this year there are even more awards for more great teachers. As well as gongs for best primary and best secondary teacher, there are four new categories recognising peripatetic music teachers, those who work with children with special needs and newly qualified music teachers. And for those who have made music teaching their life's work, there's an award for Lifetime Achievement.

The awards will be presented at this year's Music for Youth Schools Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in November, and winners will receive thousands of pounds worth of musical equipment for their schools courtesy of Yamaha and Sibelius.

To nominate your Music Teacher of the Year you'll need to download the application form from the Classic FM website and submit it by 22 September 2008.
