August's Signatory of the Month is Pilling St John's School in Lancashire. While the pupils and staff are enjoying a well-deserved summer break, we wanted to celebrate everything the school has achieved this year.
Headteacher Pauline Tate dropped the Music Manifesto a line to let us know what a fantastic year it's been for the school - the pupils were even invited to perform on BBC Radio Lancashire, which was a real highlight.
"Since September all of our KS2 children have been involved in the Wider Opportunities programme and we now have a successful band which has played on the radio and has given an astounding concert."
Pilling St John's School has always been committed to singing but this year the school stepped up its singing activity even more and the results have been impressive. "All the children sang and participated in our concert and class 3 have performed on stage at Preston's Charter Theatre and for county councillors at the County Hall in Preston," says Pauline.
"The opportunity to perform has been great," she adds, but the thrill of performance has not been the only benefit; all this musical activity has had knock-on effects for the school. "The children have grown in confidence and been motivated to do better, to practice and to see music as an enjoyable and exciting activity!"
Here's to even more music making next year!
