Over the summer we'll be profiling the five winning bids for the government's music partnership grants. Find out how one of the original Music Manifesto Pathfinders, the Hallé and North West Partnership, will be continuing its work.
As Britain's oldest professional symphony orchestra, the Hallé's unique collaboration is a momentous project which will be striving to unite the expanded music services of the boroughs of Manchester, Salford, Bolton and Stockport to create innovative work to inspire the young people based in these areas.
The Partnership's manifesto aims to offer all children and young people greater opportunities to explore and be part of making music across all styles. The message is one of nurturing children's imaginations, confidence and appetite for learning through the experience of group performance, which can teach invaluable lessons in taking risks, working as part of a team and the enormous sense of achievement felt through live performance.
Sir Mark Elder, Hallé Music Director said, "We are thrilled to have been offered a one-year music partnership project uniting the four music services of Bolton, Manchester, Salford and Stockport in formal partnership with the Hallé. This work is of vital importance to the musical life of the region and something I passionately believe in."
A range of activities are planned to support youth learning at all levels with a special focus on those students at the transition ages of Key Stages 2 and 3, when children leave primary school to join secondary schools.
